SÖREN WEINGARTEN.
DIRECTOR & DIRECTING DOP /// TABLETOP /// FOOD & BEVERAGE
I STAGE PRODUCTS PEOPLE WANT TO EXPERIENCE.
Beverages, food, liquids and products – real in front of the camera, with motion control, high-speed and practical effects. Directing, camera – that is my passion. I often cover several positions on one shoot without any problem – which keeps coordination short, budgets flexible and shoot days easier to plan. I also run large projects in a highly organised way, or take on just one part such as directing, motion control, special effects or photography.
I have run fokusmedien since 2016, specialised in tabletop since 2024. I work for agencies, brands and production companies as director or directing DoP – with their team or with my own technical unit at the studio in Frankfurt.
One MINUTE of visual power.
PREPARED, NOT IMPROVISED.
Tabletop is planning work. The shoot day is just the point where you see whether the planning was right.
I direct, set up the frame and program the camera move myself. No losses in translation between departments, no waiting for the operator.
I test risky shots with the real product in the studio before the shoot day. Moves are programmed before the crew is on set. The schedule holds because it is not made on set.
I have led teams of two to ten people and been responsible for four- to six-figure budgets – and I am just as happy working in your crew as with my own.
Assessment of board or treatment at short notice, honest and with numbers. If something will not work, I say so before the quote, not on the shoot day.
Passion meets passion.
Food and beverages are not just one subject among many for me. I am a passionate cook, have been a member of Slow Food for many years and take a close interest in craft beer, wine and gastronomy. I know how a head of foam has to stand, when a steak has colour and why a drop on the glass sells more than a dry one.
I adopted the term "Leckerzität" – deliciousness – from a highly valued colleague and friend, and it has stayed with me ever since. My goal: to maximise "Leckerzität", create premium looks and delight clients (and their customers).
My films should not just meet expectations but exceed them. Japanese culture has shaped me a great deal here. Kodawari, the uncompromising pursuit of excellence and perfection, is my guiding philosophy.
